Today is "The Paper Bag Princess" day!
Sometimes I forget most people aren't really super into picture books.
I know you guys are expecting a #Librarianfightclub about Dr. Seuss this week. But I already did one last year. In case you missed it Dr. Seuss aka Theodore Geisel was incredibly racist, and harmful messages are tucked into his work. This is all incredibly public information that you can look up. We even have a @picturebookstagang podcast episode on the subject.
What's the most random thing your kid is obsessed with reading?
Am I the only person who let's my kids play in the bath during the day in winter just to kill time? It's probably the closest thing we are going to get to a trip to the sea any time soon.
We need more diverse voices in Kid Lit. On every level from author to editor to reviewer. PERIOD. Let's start there.
"Freedom We Sing" explores and celebrates the loving relationship between between a Black mother and her child, and their discussions of humanity and freedom. A beautiful and unusual piece, that evokes the feeling of spoken word poetry.
"Way Past Mad" is honestly how I've been feeling a lot lately. Maybe you have been too?
"Tiara's Hat Parade" is a beautiful story that has a lot of layers happening.
Today is #IReadCanadian day.
Tonight is the eve of #IReadCanadian day, tomorrow everyone is invited to celebrate their favourite Canadian books!
A few days ago was the 2 year anniversary of starting @readwithriver.
I read an article today on The Verge about Instagram's plans to test removing the Share Post to Stories Feature.
"Skinnamarink" is the real Canadian anthem.
There are lots of "Ways to Say I Love You" for humans and animals alike! This book is just a stunningly beautiful and luxurious piece of art that pairs gorgeous animal illustration scenes with inclusive vignettes of humans in love.
"Red Shoes: A Dazzling Journey" by Karen English and Ebony Glenn was delightful and had a surprising double story line I didn't expect.
